AVM GKJ Reddy, VSM, Commandant

Air Vice Marshal GJK Reddy, VSM was commissioned into the Fighter Stream of IAF in 1990. With close to 4,500 hours of flying, the Air officer is a Cat A Flying Instructor and has flown several types of aircrafts including MiG-21, MiG-29 UPG, HPT-32 and Hawk.

His experience spans front-line combat operations as well as instructional training. He has taught and mentored pilots across multiple tenures. He is a graduate of the National Defence College & the Defence Services Staff College and has undergone the Higher Air Command Course at CAW. He is a qualified Flying Instructor and was graded Directing Staff at the Joint Air Warfare Course.

He commanded a front-line fighter squadron and a premier Operational Flying Base in Western Air Command. His postings have taken him across fighter units, training schools, and Operational and Training Commands, giving him a wide operational and institutional canvas.

On the international front, he was part of delegation for the Avalon Air Show in Australia in 2009, Exercise Eastern Bridge in Oman in 2019, the Hawk User Group in the United States in 2011.  He also visited Czech Republic in 2014 during the Higher Air Command Course, and to Iran, Nigeria, and Italy during NDC study tour.

He was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2013, AOC-in-C Commendations in 1999 and 2007, and Chief of Air Staff Commendation in 2004.

AVM Reddy is married to Wing Commander Kartika Kilam (Retd), who served as an aeronautical engineer for 15 years in the IAF and is currently leads the APJC PMO, with CISCO. Their two children, Bhavathi and Snehit are Software Engineers.
